*This charm is commonly practiced in Hogwarts, in Harry Potter saga by J.K. Rowling
This charm is one of the first to be taught in the Schools of Wizardry and Magic. It requires a lot of patience and a good wand control. This set includes a helping device that is aimed to help you to control your wand and to establish a better contact with the feather to make it levitate more easily.
The exercise
Level 1
Put the feather pen on the floor. Make sure that the helping device is unbroken and is hanging freely.
Flick your magic wand towards the feather making an and say ” Wingardium Leviosa”!
Look at the Feather and slowly rise the magic wand. (If you find that the helping device is too long, you can roll it around your wand.)
Slowly continue to rise the wand – the feather should follow your movements and stay parallel to the floor. Control it with your wand and make it land gracefully back to the floor.
Level 2
Once you feel you can control the feather with your wand and make it rise into the air, you can move to the next step in the levitation exercise and make the feather move around.
When your feather is already in the air, make the slow circles with your magic wand. Keep the control of your wand and make slow movements. Lead the feather to follow your wand’s movements staying parallel to the floor.
Level 3
Once you can control the circle movements of the feather in one direction, try to make it move in the opposite way. Lead it with your wand without making brutal movements. Keep the control of your wand making circles and make the feather change direction when you want.
Level 4
When you are mastering the circle movements of your feather and the direction change, you can make the levitation exercise even more complicated and make different figures:
Eight figure:
To succeed, make with your feather larger circles and than transform its trajectory into an eight. Make it change direction.
Spiral:
Start with a small circle and make it grow. Than reduce it back to the small circle.
Level 5
When you feel confortable with all those figures you can try to make the same walking around. Don’t hesitate to invent other figures!
Level 6
Try to raise your feather higher in the air, so it makes figures that are not parallel to the floor.
