★★★★★ "Such a fun activities for the kids!"

Why are the children asking for a Harry Potter themed Party?

For instance, if your child is asking to have a Harry Potter themed birthday party, they are probably a big fan of Harry Potter and have already read all the Harry Potter books and watched all the movies.

However, you don’t know what makes the Harry Potter saga so attractive for the children?

Above all, it’s the Magic, the fact that Witches and Wizards can cast spells, flick their magic wands and turn into an animal or make the enemy vomit slugs… It’s exactly what all Harry Potter fans are dreaming about – to let the Magic HAPPEN for REAL!

In other words, the children are dreaming to be a part of the magical world and make the things that they can’t imagine happen in real life.  That’s to say, they want to see things that they can’t find an explanation for, so they will consider them as MAGICAL.

Can Magic happen in real life?

Can Magic happen in real life? Just between us, it cannot. But science is the best friend of young Witches and Wizards!!!

For me, the MAGIC Practicum adventure started when I was preparing my daughter’s 10th birthday. She wanted to have a Harry Potter birthday party, and her special request was “It must be really MAGICAL!”

Luckily,  I’m a Harry Potter fan too, so I knew exactly what she wanted. Still, I spent weeks looking for the best magical activities we could make easily at her Harry Potter birthday party.

I’ve created some crafts and transformed some scientific experiments into a unique scenario that assembles the best magical activities for a Harry Potter party!

MAGIC Practicum Party concept

As you understood, I started exactly at the point where you might be today – thinking how to organize a Harry Potter themed party for your child.

Therefore, I know that starting from scratch is really time consuming. That’s why I’m sharing my experience with you!

MAGIC Practicum is a selection of the best magical activities for a Harry Potter themed party.

It will help you to create the “Harry Potter” atmosphere, to involve the children into the party with questions, to balance the activities by alternating crafts, games and magical activities.

As a result, the children will be busy and happy and you will be able to keep control of the party!

Here are the unique activities for a Harry Potter themed party that I have created:

  1. Key of success – magical atmosphere and suspense

To start, you can explain to the children that the Schools of Magic, like Hogwarts, decided to open their doors to the larger number of children, at the condition that they can prove their Magical abilities.

Today, they have the opportunity to learn the basics of Magic, practice spells and brew potions!

  1. Quiz “History of Magic”

To remind the children of the atmosphere of the school of Magic, you could continue with a quiz that is based on the facts from the Harry Potter saga and other magic-related questions. The kids will be happy to prove how much they already know!

  1. Magic Wand making

Magic Wand making is a “must – have” activity for a Harry Potter party.

Making their own Magic Wands will keep the kids busy. Moreover, they will use them during the party and take them home as party favours.

These Magic Wands are the easiest version to make that the world has ever seen. Children aged 9 and above will be able to complete them on their own.

  1. Spells revision

Before starting the first “class” that will be potion making, suggest to the children to “revise” the spells that they already know!

Careful, don’t let them pronounce the “Unforgivable Curses” (the Killing Curse – Avada Kedavra; the Cruciatus Curse – Crucio and the Imperius Curse – Imperio!)

Here is the list of spells that they might know from the Harry Potter books and movies. Ask which effect each spell produces!

Lumos/Nox (turns the light on /off on the magic wand); Reparo (repairs broken objects); Silencio (makes someone or something silent); Riddikulus (used for getting rid of a Boggart); Incendio (creates fire); Evanesco (makes objects vanish); etc.

  1. Potion making

I’m very proud of my contribution into the “Potion Making Book” that is commonly used in the Magical World.

My personal invention is a Revealing Potion.

A Revealing Potion is a kind of TEST – it’s aimed to reveal if the person who prepares it has magical abilities.

It’s exactly what the children want to know!!! Are they Witches or Wizards? Do they belong to the Magical World?

The Potion-making kit includes the recipe, instructions and the labels for “magical ingredients” the children will use during the party.

Watch here how the potion making process goes!

  1. Levitation charm

After the Potion Class, it’s time for a break! Let the children play and practice the “Levitation Charm”! Use the new made Magic Wands to keep the balloons in the air!

  1. Shrinking charm

You could practice the Shrinking charm in little groups of 2-3 children. It’s a really magical activity for a Harry Potter party! Watch this video, it’s better to see than to read about it!

  1. Cake and drinks time!

To transform your table into the Wizarding feast, you could relook all the children’s favourite drinks into the Magical beverages! Veritasserum, Phoenix tears, Mandrake roots beverage… the labels are waiting to be printed!

  1. The Quidditch team is looking for its Seeker!

The Seeker is a Quidditch player whose role is to catch the Golden Snitch. If it is not very clear for you – the children will definitely know all about it! 🙂

This game, that can be played indoors and outdoors, is fun “training” for the children to catch the snitch. (It’s not a ball game!) This game is always a hit!

You will find a full description in my party sets. As all of my activities, it’s very easy to organize!!!

  1. Transfiguration spell

This is another magical activity for a Harry Potter party that was inspired by a scientific experiment. As for all other activities, I’m using only the easy to find edible ingredients. Surprise the children and prove that Transfiguration is possible!

  1. Golden snitch making

At the end of the party the children could have another calm activity and make yummy Golden Snitches using Ferrero Rocher chocolates. Print the sheets of Magical wings, the children will cut them out to make the Snitch’s wings. They will take the Golden Snitches home as a party favours.

Easy for you, fun for children

Entertaining kids with magical activities is easy and fun.

Most importantly, all these activities are ready to use! My magical activities for a Harry Potter party can be organized indoors and outdoors.
